The terms under which you may use the Bibles you build with Tringine.

Every build you make with Tringine produces a set of files — a print-ready PDF, light and dark screen-reading PDFs, and an EPUB3. This page explains what you may and may not do with them. It is granted by Publifye AS, the publisher of Tringine.

Your license

A Bible you build is a private edition, licensed to you for your own use. Subject to the terms below, you may keep the files, print them through any print service (Lulu, KDP, a local printer), and read them on your own devices, for as long as you like. The files are yours to keep even though your ability to re-download them from us is time-limited (see the Terms of Service).

Personal use

On the Personal tier the license is for your personal and household use. You may:

• Read your edition on your own devices.
• Print copies for yourself and the people in your household.
• Give a printed copy as a personal gift.

The title page carries the name and email of the person who built the edition. This is deliberate: a personal edition is bound to you, so you think carefully about whom you share it with.

Organization use (Congregation and Sponsored tiers)

The Congregation and Sponsored tiers work the same way, and deliberately broadly — we do not want to limit how you serve the people you exist for. On either tier your license lets you build editions and print them, and distribute those printed copies, at scale, to the people your organization serves: its members, its ministries, and its outreach. A congregation may print editions and give them to its members and congregants; a sponsor may print for the people its outreach reaches. You give these copies away for your mission — you never charge the people who receive them, so this is not resale.

Starting price and a self-reported per-print royalty

Each organization tier begins at an agreed starting price — for Congregation, $280 per year, which lets you build up to 140 editions that year; for Sponsored, a starting price and terms we agree with you for larger outreach. Printing and distributing those editions then carries a small per-print royalty, on the honour system: once a year you tell us the total number of copies you printed, and we bill a per-print royalty at a working rate of about $1 per printed copy. It is a trust-based, self-reported arrangement — modelled on how churches report their song usage to CCLI — reported the year after, so the further your mission reaches, the more the work is supported, without anyone counting copies over your shoulder. The royalty is what your organization contributes to Publifye AS for the editions it prints; it is not a price you charge anyone, and it does not make your builds for sale.

Not for resale — on any tier

Builds are never offered for sale to the public, on any tier. You may not sell copies, license them to anyone else, or list them in any shop, and no ISBN is assigned to a build. On the organization tiers you may print your editions and give them away within your mission — that distribution (with the annual per-print royalty described above) is not resale, because the people who receive the copies are never charged. Tringine editions are for private and in-organization use only; they are not publications offered for sale to the public.

Where the Scripture text comes from

The Scripture in your edition is composed from the Darash corpus. The translations offered are ones that are:

• Public-domain translations;
• Translations owned by Publifye AS; or
• Translations made available under an open licence — for example a Creative Commons licence, including CC BY-SA (Attribution-ShareAlike).

Where a translation carries a licence, that licence continues to govern the Scripture text itself, and the credit and licence terms travel with your edition. The colophon of every build records the exact source and licence for each translation it uses — including the required attribution for openly licensed texts (such as CC BY-SA), taken from the translation's own copyright statement. Please keep that colophon intact.

The rest of the edition

The typesetting, layout, navigation, cover and front and back matter that Tringine generates around the Scripture are produced by Publifye AS. Your license to use them is the same private-use (or, on the organization tiers, in-organization) license described above.

Our references stay in the edition

Every edition Tringine builds carries a colophon and identifying references — to Publifye AS, to Tringine and to the Darash Scripture source, together with the edition and builder identifiers that make each build traceable. These references are part of the license, and they must remain intact and legible in every file we produce — the print-ready PDF, both screen-reading PDFs, and the EPUB3. On every tier — Personal, Congregation and Sponsored alike — you may not remove, obscure, crop, cover over, or alter these references, or any part of the colophon and its attributions, in any copy you keep, print, or distribute.

You are welcome to add your own material: you may put your own imprint — your name, your ministry or your organization — on the title page, and supply your own cover. What you add is yours; what we place stays. Adding your imprint or cover never entitles you to strip, hide, or change ours.
